Someone recently told me that a photographer without a back-up camera is an amateur with a toy. I instantly thought of devoting a week to learning 'go fuck yourself' in 10 different languages. Instead I used the international sign language. The word amateur has a negative connotation and I hope to Almighty people don't mean they're professionals because they have a back-up camera or because they've sold a few pictures. Why is it that the word 'professional' is thrown about more in photography and photography equipment than in any other discipline? Maybe videography comes in second.
The above thought sparked from this excellent interview with Vincent Versace.
One more thing...fuck the rule of thirds.
