Not too many people know that Nino Rota had re-arranged two motifs from this 1958 comedy, Fortunella, into The Godfather and La Dolce Vita. I only found an example of the section that was re-arranged as the love theme from The Godfather. To his credit, Rota did reveal in a documentary that he'd, in my words, ripped himself off. While the Fortunella "controversy" cost him an Oscar, he did go on to win for the sequel. It's all about connections man! Skip to 0:56 if you're impatient. One of the four writers of Fortunella, by the way, happens to be a little known filmmaker called Fellini.
