David Sauvage is a good friend of mine. Talented writer and filmmaker. There are very few people I agree with about things; he is one of them.David is in the process of making a documentary and he is seeking funds to get it completed. It's about Carissa, a friend of his from UCLA, who is an example of how one can, amidst all imaginable cruelties of life, rise above and beyond. Here's an excerpt of David's description of his film. If you're out in L.A., please go to this fundraiser.
"When Carissa was 12, she was abandoned by her mother at juvenile hall. She ran away from group homes and slept on the streets. At her lowest point, she was forced into prostitution. The film asks how Carissa was able to turn her life around to make it where she is today. The UCLA Anderson School of Management will present an evening of viewing, cocktails, and discussion. All proceeds will go toward editing the film and finishing up the shoot.
